Elle never liked hospitals.

She hated them, in fact. Despised them. They made her memory flash on doctors and examine tables and things she still can’t remember, doesn’t want to remember. They made her think of pain, and distrust and a million other things that she’d rather keep buried inside of her.
Needless to say, when her water broke one Sunday morning, she was quite insistent on having the baby in the comfort of her own home.

Her husband, Dean, had other ideas. He didn’t want to risk anything. He had seen how the pregnant belly had overwhelmed her otherwise tiny frame. The last thing he wanted was for some kind of complication to hurt her or their son.
